National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), agency of the United States government responsible for developing space exploration and research initiatives, as well as coordinating various communications-related projects. NASA also administers the space shuttle program and a variety of other endeavors, which include improving the performance of airplanes and rockets (aeronautics), conducting scientific experiments in space, improving data-tracking technology, increasing international alliances for space activities, and establishing partnerships between private companies and government agencies in the aeronautics industry.
